Book Club: Girls in the Moon

Hi EMC’sters!

I’ll be adding a new series to my blog called Book Club! I’ve been reading a lot of books lately, and I figured I’d share them with you!

The very first book I want to mention is called Girls in the Moon by Janet McNally (for future reference – I’29243059ll be adding a link to the book on Amazon in case anyone is interested in checking it out for themselves).

Girls in the Moon is about a rock star family and a daughter looking to fit into it. The book is set in both past and present, telling the story of the rock star parents (past) and their two daughters (present). The eldest daughter Luna has inherited her parent’s gift of music, while Phoebe, the youngest daughter, has no musical talent at all. Instead, Phoebe focuses on writing poetry. Without giving too much away, the story is about Phoebe finding her way and essentially her place within her family.

I love this book for many reasons, one being the family dynamic. Taking out the rock star part, the family dynamic is this book is very similar to mine, so I can relate to Phoebe on a more personal level. While I was reading the book, there were a lot of times where I would be like “Yep, I feel ya sista!”

Beyond that, the story telling in this book is amazing. Every page left me captivated and wanting more. This looks to be Janet McNally’s first book, and I think she did an amazing job!

Now, she says that this is a young adult novel, and in ways I can see why. But, as an adult, I can also see reading this above the YA level without feeling like a teenager (does that make sense?).

Well that ends the first meeting of ze Book Club! I’m super excited to be sharing these books with all of you. Let me know if you have any suggestions for me to read! Until next time,
